About

I've worked as a teacher of English as a foreign language in Poland, Germany, Cambodia and Japan, in a variety of educational settings for a period of more than 13 years. I've been teaching at university level since 2001 and in April 2004 started teaching at Waseda University where I currently teach EAP on a part-time basis. I've been a full-time Junior Assistant Professor at Tokai University since April 2012. Additionally, I work for the Center of English language Studies at Birmingham University (UK) as a dissertation supervisor and personal tutor on the distance Applied Linguistics and TESOL MA programs. Throughout my teaching career I have consistently received praise from supervisors for my professionalism, ability to motivate students and enthusiasm.

I hold the Cambridge Diploma for English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA), and also have an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Birmingham, for which I was awarded a distinction. The results of my dissertation research were received with interest at last year’s JALT international conference, and my paper has been published in the peer-reviewed 2010 JALT conference proceedings. I also presented two papers at the 2011 Pan-SIG JALT teaching conference in Nagano in May of this year. I expect to have a further two papers published in conference proceedings next year, and during the next 12 months I expect to give a further 3 presentations, including one in Cambodia. I have also published some non-peer reviewed articles online, and given a number of workshops as part of my work responsibilities. I'm currently in the process of submitting my PhD proposal to Temple University, Tokyo campus. My current research interests include the influence of cultural background on educational preferences, and infant language development in bilingual households.
